Mailbox Monday!

Mailbox Monday!

Description

Mailbox Monday is a where we share the books we acquired in the week whether bought, borrowed or stole...or sent from a publisher! It is hosted by a different book blog each month; more details can be found here: Mailbox Monday.

The host for August's Monday Mailbox is '5 Minutes for Books'

Books I Bought

I have cut down my physical book buying recently and instead gone for cheap e-books. The paper books I do buy...I am trying to go for quality over quantity!

Title: Shadows on the Moon

Author: Zoe Marriott

Title: Beauty Queens
Author: Libba Bray

Both of these books have had high recommendations by people I trust. Heidi from Bunbury in the Stacks and Misty from The Book Rat both loved 'Shadows on the Moon' and Priscilla from The Readables loved 'Beauty Queens'. I am very excited to read both and hope those awesome bloggers don't let me down :-P

Title: Penguin Great Loves Boxset
Author: Various

Look at this. Isn't it beautiful!? I have been lusting after the Penguin boxsets for absolutely ages (especially the Charles Dickens clothbound boxset but at £65.00 it's just taunting me) and I finally got one for £10.99 from a seller on Amazon! I think that's a pretty great deal considering you get 20 books, all with beautiful covers and beautifully presented. The boxset includes:

- Doomed Love by Virgil
- Mary by Vladimir Nabokov
- The Virgin and the Gypsy by D.H Lawrence
- A Mere Interlude by Thomas Hardy
- Magnetism by F. Scott Fitzgerald
- A Russian Affair by Anton Chekhov

And many more! I love having it on my bookshelf and I can't way to make my way through all the great loves!

E-Books ( I Bought)

Title: Partials
Author: Dan Wells

I have seen this book around, and it seems to have gotten some pretty good reviews so I thought I'd try it out! Likin the sinister cover too!

Title: Throne of Glass
Author: Sarah J.Maas

I have definitely seen a lot of hype for this one and when I saw it going cheap I snapped it up!

Title: The Remarkable Life and Times of Eliza Rose
Author: Mary Hooper

I hadn't heard of this book before I saw it on Amazon, but it had good reviews and looked like a bit of class that I might be in the mood for one day! Nice one to add to my Kindle collection!

E-Books (For Review)

Title: The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland and Led the Revels There
Author: Catherynne M. Valente

I STILL need to read 'The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making' which is the first book in the series. I need to purchase it and get these two read because the covers and titles are insta-love for me.

Title: Ashenden
Author: Elizabeth Wilhide

I saw this book and thought of Downton Abbey and how much I missed it. I sometimes get in the mood for some huge sprawling mansions and balls and quitting the room and, when I am, this will get reviewed.

Title: All Things Different
Author: Shawn Underhill

Shawn, the author of this book, contacted me requesting a review. I agreed due to the beautiful cover (lettering= PRETTY) and the fact he addressed his email to me and Boots (my cat) which I thought was cute.

Those are the books I acquired this week! Hope I can get round to reading them soon.
