Top Ten Tuesday: Books I'd Like To See Made Into A Movie!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weakly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Every week a different topic comes up and bloggers list their top ten books in that category. I love a good list...I've always said that. That's practically my catchphrase.

Top Ten Books I'd Like to See Made Into a Movie

Most of the books I love are already movies so this one was tricky! Also, I tend to like the movies a lot less than the books and sometimes they even ruin books for me a bit...so, yeah, I was unsure!

Title: The BFG

Author: Roald Dahl

Why I Want a Movie: I know there was already a cartoon film but I think a live action version would be absolutely amazing! Magical!

Title: The Magic Faraway Tree

Author: Enid Blyton
Why I Want a Movie: These books were among my absolute favourites as a child and I think a film would be so fairy tale and magical and Moony could be kinds creepy. Ahh I want this film!

Title: Blankets

Author: Craig Thompson

Why I Want a Movie: I think this would be a gorgeous stop motion or cartoon film. It would be so arty and romantic!

Title: The Book Theif
Author: Markus Zusak

Why I Want a Movie: I would probably cry and be an embarassing mess watching this but, if done right, it could be wonderful.

Title: Nights at the Circus

Author: Angela Carter

Why I Want a Movie: This would be such a colourful, flamboyant riot of a film with so many surreal and magical realist elements. It would be so pretty!

Title: Sin City Vol.1

Author: Frank Miller

Why I Want a Movie: I know there is already a film. But there are many volumes of Sin City and, in my opinion, the best is still to come. The second film has been in the pipeline FOREVER and I just want it NOW :-(

Title: The Secret History

Author: Donna Tartt

Why I Want a Movie: This is one of my favourite books of all time and, as far as I know, there is no movie. These characters are so amazing and it's such a downfall that I think the film would be brilliant!

Title: The Historian

Author: Elizabeth Kostova

Why I Want a Movie: This is a REAL vampire story and would maybe shake off Twilight once and for all...get some people loving vampires again!

Title: Poor Things

Author: Alasdair Gray
Why I Want a Movie: This novel is so incredible and is such a facinating take on the Frankenstein trope that I think it would make a gruesome but moving film.

Title: Anne of Green Gables

Author: L.M Montgomery

Why I Want a Movie: I know there have been films. But I didn't think they captured Anne properly and I didn't think the settings were beautiful enough. Maybe no movie can live up to my love for this book...but I would like them to give it a good try!

Let me know which movie adaptations you are hoping for!

  1. I really want to see the Book Thief as a movie. That would be pretty cool :). Great post!

I would love it if you could check out my TTT!

  2. Oh, The Historian is such an amazing book! It would make a fabulous movie. I would definitely go see it. I still need to read The Book Thief! I should do that soon.
    My Top Ten Tuesday

  3. Great list. Agree, agree, agree with Anne and BFG and Secret History.

And I've always wanted to read Nights at the Circus....

    Here's my
Top Ten Books I'd Like to See Made into Movies.
I'd love to have you stop by!

  4. The Night circus is on my summer To Read List! And I agree, Anne of Green Gables could do with a well
done update of the books. Maybe as a PBS series?!

  5. The Historian would be a great movie, and with the current popularity of vampires in all forms of media, it seems like it would be a natural choice! I couldn't put that book down when I first read it. And I'm excited to see The Secret History on your list; I just picked it up from the library and can't wait to start it. :)

    Great choices! Thanks for sharing!

  6. Sin City was one of my favorite movies the year it came out! I would definitely see a sequel.

  7. I really need to read The Book Thief, i've heard nothing but good things about it..
Interesting choice of books! Very unique :)

    My Top 10 Tuesday

  8. The Secret History and The Historian are both books that would be on my list as well. I actually find it hard to believe that neither of them have been made into films yet. Especially The Secret History. Great list!

  9. I picked The Book Thief and The HIstorian too, both are wonderful books that would make great movies!

  10. Great list! The Book Thief made it on a lot of people's lists this week; I guess I was hesitant to add it to my list because I really would want them to do an amazing job on it if they did!

Here's my TTT for this week: http://www.rulethewaves.net/blog/?p=4408

  11. I think that would be a great idea for the Roald Dahl book. My friend just read The Historian and I'm definitely interested in checking that out myself. I love vampire stories turned into film, if they're done right.

What a wonderful selection of books you picked! I just love how often these choices have the caveat "if done right." Oh Hollywood!

    Happy reading!

  12. Ooh, The Faraway Tree would be the most adorable thing ever. I would so totally take all the kids in the Paeds ward to watch that!

  13. I love Roald Dahl!! You absolutely stole my heart :) I have honestly read like every book he ever published. He fascinates me!

  15. Nice list! I haven't read any of those. I must be missing out. Thanks for sharing!

  16. Glaciers Hockey is actually one sport that's played around the world in various regions. It brings together the bone fragments crushing checks using the gracefulness associated with sliding over the ice. www.scorespro.com
