Musing Monday

Description

'Musing Mondays' is a weekly event where MizB from Should Be Reading will ask a book/reading-related question, and you answer with your own thoughts on the topic.

Today's Musing:

I'm not! I think it's a great idea but I've never really looked into it. I think I've always assumed that it would mean putting my reading on hold and reading a designated book, which doesn't appeal to me as I have hundreds of books on my bookshelf that I need to get round to reading! I really like the idea of the social aspect- talking to like-minded people in depth about books you have all read...I think that would be lovely! But then I have blogging for that! I did join the bookclub at my local library and went once and never went back. It wasn't bad but it just wasn't for me. The books being read were all classics and, while I enjoy a classic from time to time, I also like to mix things up and read bits of everything! Also, I did an English Literature Degree at University so, in a way, that was one big book club because all we did was sit about and discuss books!

If anyone knows any great online book clubs they think I should look into feel free to link me- I think I am ready to try bookclubbing again!

  1. You can give Goodreads a try to see if its what you are looking for. There are a lot of groups that tackle different genres and sometimes works of a particular author. :)

  6. I belong to book clubs and am a new blogger, learning the ropes. I like to connect with people so I find both to be very important. In fact, that's how you and I met. We are blog-friends. I dropped by to touch base & let you know I'm changing to a new blog and closing the old one. The new link is http://scarlettrainssistersoftheheartsblog.blogspot.com/. (When you see a hummingbird, you'll know you're at the right spot.) I hope you'll follow me on over there. :)

  7. I'm in a book group that meets right after school, so it's convenient. And since it's made up of colleagues and friends, I don't feel badly if I don't finish the book.

  8. I never tried a library book club, but it doesn't sound fun. I hate classics lol. I'm in a group on goodreads that's great. You only participate when you have time and feel like it. http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/51477.Never_too_old_for_Y_A_Books

  9. I wish our local library had a book club, but they don't. Maybe I should talk to the librarian about starting one!

  10. I wish I knew cool people that lived near me that would want to do a book club!! But for now I do a few at GoodReads and they're pretty neat. They read a book every month, but you get to vote so it may be a book youre already about to read, that's happened to me a few times. Plus they also do challenges where you get to pick books to plug in to a list... it's actually gotten me motivated to read some of my to-read books!
